How to Perform a Download from TIS2Web to Tech2Win

  1. Launch Tech2Win
    • If Tech2Win isn’t already running, start the program by double-clicking the Tech2Win icon on your desktop.
    • Alternatively, go to Start > Programs > General Motors > Tech2Win to open the application.
  2. Select Your Device
    • If you didn’t specify a device during setup or the selected device is unavailable, a list of available devices will appear. Choose the device you want to use and click OK.

    • Note: You can ignore any messages about missing or expired licenses.
  3. Start the Download from TIS2Web
    • Perform the download to Tech2Win just as you would with a Tech2 device.
    • Select the Custom update mode instead of Standard to replace the demonstration software with the latest version.
    • For the COM Port, either select Search or manually enter the port you assigned to Tech2Win in the earlier setup.
  4. Monitor the Download
    • On the Tech2Win screen, you will see progress blocks running from left to right, similar to what you’d see on a Tech2 device.
  5. License Confirmation
    • Once the download is complete, Tech2Win should automatically receive a 30-day license.
    • If the license isn’t granted, follow the steps below to obtain one.

Obtaining a Tech2Win License

  1. Check License Status
    • If Tech2Win is not running, start the application using the steps mentioned above.
    • Look at the bottom right of the status bar. If you see a (0), it means the license has expired or is missing.
  2. Get a License via Security Access
    • Most versions of Tech2Win acquire their license during the download. If not, you can use the TIS2Web Security Access module to manually get a license.
    • Open the Security Access module in TIS2Web and follow the same process used for a Tech2 device to download the security access approval to Tech2Win.

By following these instructions, you can successfully download software updates from TIS2Web to Tech2Win and obtain the necessary license for operation.
