Accessing the Engine Speed Test
To run the Engine Speed Test:
- Open CAT ET 2024A.

Screen Layout
The Engine Speed Test screen is divided into three main areas:
1. Status Line
- Displays messages regarding the diagnostic test process.
2. Instruction Area
- Provides step-by-step instructions for the diagnostic test.
3. Control Area
- Allows for the adjustment of engine speed.
- Horizontal Slide Bar: Displays the parameter range with the current engine speed value above it. Parameter reference numbers are on either side of the slide bar, and a vertical slider shows the current value.
- Buttons for Speed Adjustment:
- Decrease speed by one setting.
- Decrease speed by 20 RPM.
- Increase speed by 20 RPM.
- Increase speed by one setting.
Buttons and Their Functions
- Start: Begins the test, enabling manual manipulation of engine speed using the arrow buttons beneath the slider bars. This button is disabled once the test starts until it is stopped.
- Begin Sweep: Automatically varies engine speed through the range. Sweeping continues until the End Sweep button is clicked.
- End Sweep: Stops the automatic sweeping of engine speed.
- Stop: Ends the test. This button is disabled until the test is started.
