CAT ET Caterpillar Engine Injector Solenoid and Valve Actuator Test

Accessing the Tests:

  1. Injector Solenoid Test:
    • Navigate to the Diagnostics menu.
    • Select Diagnostic Tests.
    • Choose Injector Solenoid Test from the submenu. The test screen will appear.
  2. Intake Valve Actuator Solenoid Test:
    • Navigate to the Diagnostics menu.
    • Select Diagnostic Tests.
    • Choose Suction Valve Control Solenoid Test from the submenu. The test screen will appear.

Test Screen Layout:

  • Tree Area:
    • Lists the available ECMs and the selected diagnostic test.
    • Highlights the selected test if multiple tests are available.
    • Note: The Tree Area is not available for the Injector Magnetic Field Test over an ATA Data Link.
  • Display Area:
    • Cylinder/Description: Lists available cylinder numbers.
    • Mode: Displays the current mode of the cylinder (e.g., “On” or “Off”).
    • Test Result: Displays results as “Open,” “Short,” or “OK” once the test is complete.
  • Buttons:
    • Change: Changes the state of a cylinder, allowing for troubleshooting by turning individual cylinders “Off” and then on again.
    • Power All: Returns all cylinders to the “On” or “Active” state.
    • Shutdown All: Changes the state of all cylinders to “Shutdown.”
    • Start: Initiates the test. This button remains disabled until the test is stopped.
    • Stop: Stops the test. This button remains disabled until the test is resumed.

Performing the Tests:

  1. Injector Solenoid Test:
    • Select the Injector Solenoid Test from the diagnostic menu.
    • Click Start to begin the test.
    • Observe the results in the Display Area.
    • Analyze the data to determine if all cylinders are operating properly.
  2. Intake Valve Actuator Solenoid Test:
    • Select the Suction Valve Control Solenoid Test from the diagnostic menu.
    • Click Start to begin the test.
    • Observe the results in the Display Area.
    • Analyze the data to identify any issues with the intake valve actuator solenoids.
